Editors Remixes, Merge Records Auction, Earl Greyhound

It was almost a year ago this week that extrawack! gave Editors their first American music blog review, of their killer set at the XFM holiday show at Carling Brixton Academy in London.

This past week saw the release of Editors Remix EP, featuring the following tracks/remixers:
1. "Camera" (Sebastian Remix)
2. "Munich" (Ghislain Porier Remix)
3. "All Sparks" (Prince Language Remix)
4. "Blood" (P Nice Remix)

As rock-remixes go, these are surprisingly good. The EP can be sampled and bought through iTunes here.

As a bonus, here's an Editors remix not on the EP:

Merge Records is holding some very cool auctions to benefit Oxfam America and TROSA.

Speaking of Oxfam, why not help them this holiday by buying a friend a cow or a crocodile?

One of the better sets I caught at CMJ was by Earl Greyhound, the Brooklyn 3-piece that left me hoping they'd have another NYC gig scheduled soon. Looks like my wish has come true, as they've got a pair of shows here in a couple of weeks to wind up their tour:
12/14 @ Snitch
12/16 @ The Delancey

This is what Blender says about their debut, Soft Targets:

“A roadhouse riff-rock monster so unbelievably brawny it sounds like it’s crushing beer kegs on its forehead.”

I concur.
