SXSW Parties We Are Looking Forward To

This year there are more excellent non-official SXSW parties than ever before. Unless you intend to hit a seminar or panel, or schmooze on the Trade Floor, you really can almost see every decent band down there gratis during the day.

Here's a few free shows we're shooting to hit:



Yeah, you read right, The Wedding Present. For free. At dinner time. Awesome.

And dig Terrorbird & Force Field's boss bash...they even put a beer bottle in the flyer to get the point across:

And my favorite daytime venue last year, Filter's Cedar Street Courtyard, has another great slate of shows lined-up, PLUS gratis BBQ, blackjack tables (!!), and daily broadcasts by the best host on radio (terrestrial or satellite), Sex Pistol Steve Jones of Indie 103's "Jonesy's Jukebox":

Shout Out Louds Afterparty with Bjorn...Not The One From Abba or The Tennis Player.

If you are headed to the Shout Out Louds/Essex Green/Johnossi gig at The Music Hall of Northsix or whatever it's called Friday night, don't forget the afterparty at Union Pool, featuring DJ sets from the Shout Out Louds & Bjorn from PB&J.

Diesel Party @ SXSW...Girl Talk + Tokyo Police Club + Open Bar = Crazy Delicious

I was just looking over schedules for SXSW, and this party jumped out at me as perhaps one of the most fun line-ups down there...

Diesel parties are always known for being a blast (last years' line-up with Editors, The Spinto Band, The Boy Least Likely To, Voxtrot and Film School was nuts...), and this year looks like no exception (click to enlarge):
