Spank Rock, Japandroids, Bear Hands, Future Of The Left Added To Siren Festival

More good news coming from the Siren Festival camp...

Spank Rock, Japandroids, Bear Hands, and Future Of The Left have been added to Siren's bill. Already announced are Built To Spill, The Raveonettes, Frightened Rabbit, Grand Duchy, Monotonix, Micachu, and The Shapes.

Sounds like there's still a few more acts to be announced...we'll let you know when we find out, natch.

In case you missed the original announcement, Siren will be held again on Coney Island on Saturday, July 18. More info on the Village Voice Siren Festival at: http://www.villagevoice.com/siren.

Siren Festival This Weekend, New Ra Ra Riot Download

The sweatiest festival on earth, the Siren Music Festival, is this Saturday in Coney Island...here are set times:

And yeah, you read correctly...Ted Leo will be spinning tunes all day at the Main Stage.

The band we want to see most? Ra Ra Riot. These guys have gotten so good from all the touring they've done in the past year.

Just to get you ready for Saturday, here's a track from their forthcoming debut on Barsuk, "The Rhumb Line" (out 8/16):

Siren Festival Wrap-Up

The day couldn't have been more beautiful for Siren yesterday...

I got there early with plans on splitting before it became a mobscene, and I'm glad I did based upon the amount of sunburn I discovered on the F back to Manhattan.

Of all the bands I saw, my favorite was The Twilight Sad, whom I saw for the first time. Loud, noisy, and Scottish...what's not to like?

Dr. Dog also put in a pretty great set, and I really enjoyed White Rabbits, who seemed to be having some trouble with how they sounded on stage, but sounded perfectly fine to me in the front.

Elvis Perkins:

Line of the day: "I liked Elvis Perkins a lot better when he was known as Clem Snide."

Best marketing swag of the day: The "Hot Rod Super Cool Mustache."

Worst marketing swag of the day: The Linkin Park stickers that could be found discarded throughout both stage areas.

If it's true that this was the last year for Siren, I'd say it was a pretty nice way for the festival to go out.
