Our good friends at
Secretly Canadian hooked us up with a download of a track from the forthcoming
Early Day Miners album,
Offshore. "Return Of The Native" features vocals by Amber Webber of
Black Mountain.
Easily the best thing out of Bloomington, Indiana since John Cougar, Early Day Miners is actually Daniel Lanois protégé Daniel Burton, and a select cast of fine players, including Matt Griffin of OIO.
Offshore is described as "equally beautiful and noisy...composed though loose; akin to late 80s/early 90s 4AD-laden world of shoegaze wash-rock like Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, Mark Hollis, their predecessor Peter Gabriel or modern day saint William Basinski." Sounds good to me.
Album out 22 August.
