Land Of Talk Hit The Area Again, Maxwell's Tix & CD Giveaway

You know, Montreal totally fascinates me.

I love the city, the architecture, the people, Laurentide beer, that weird white stuff they put on french fries, and the clubs. I even used to enjoy rooting for the hapless Expos. Amazingly, with the steady stream of music coming from that town, there's not been one single band that has made me say, "That's it! I've had enough music from Montreal!". In fact it's quite the opposite.

At the "M For Montreal" showcase at Maggie Mae's at SXSW, I saw a bunch of great bands from up there, and one of the best sets was from Land Of Talk.

To me they sound a bit like Sonic Youth's poppier moments, and singer Lizzie Powell sails right along with the fuzzy grooves, making for a loud and compelling set of rock tunes that pulls the listener in and locks them up for the duration of the live show.

As the band finishes up their trek home before taking off again for a British tour, they'll play bunch of shows in the NY/NJ/PA area the next week or so.
